In their search for something extraordinary, suppliers of premium vehicles are increasingly focusing on the SUV segment in addition to racy sports cars. And in its more than 100-year history, Maserati is launching an SUV with its Levante, following the general trend.

Levante comes from Spanish and Italian and initially means the Mediterranean regions to the east of Italy, in Italy and Spain stood for the sunrise – and especially in the Mediterranean for a warm wind, and at Maserati the Levante is based on stylistic elements of an Italian design tradition. This fits perfectly with the philosophy of the finca ‘Es Fanga’. To preserve the best of the past and create the best of the present from it. The landscape is characterized by the spectacular blossoming of the many almond blossoms, especially in spring. These conditions are unique for the rearing and keeping of the horses. All year round, the horses are kept on over 450 hectares of pasture land in different groups, divided by age and sex.

THE MASERATI OF SUVS

Maserati’s stylistic signature is also clearly visible from the side: the three famous air outlets on the front fender, the large frameless side windows and the trapezoidal C-pillar are adorned with a Saetta logo, as first seen on the Quattroporte of 1963. In the center of the grille, the famous Maserati trident gives the ultimate touch of exclusivity, performance and elegance.

Let the others pretend that they only want to dig in the dirt, a Levante cuts a fine figure where it is mainly to be found: in the city or the well-kept urbanity as here in the stud farm and winery Es Fangar on Mallorca. One of the most beautiful organic farms in Mallorca – one with style, ecology and utility. And on the technical side, the Levante combines outstanding on-road driving characteristics that correspond to Maserati’s typical level of performance. Excellent handling on difficult surfaces as well as off-road. To ensure that this is done with the necessary grandeur, the standard equipment of the new Maserati SUV plays an important role: premium leather, fine woods, decorative elements in a platinum look, hand-crafted decorative stitching in a contrasting colour and much more – the interior of the Levante is a feast for the senses. From the premium versions to the high-tech equipment, the Levante offers the uncompromising luxury that only Maserati can offer. Perhaps the Maserati of SUVs isn’t a perfect car, but it’s one that’s easy to forgive for its eccentricity and cockiness. After all, he is an Italian. All versions feature multi-adjustable air suspension with sophisticated electronic damper control, the intelligent Q4 all-wheel drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission specially tuned to the Levante. So the result is no wonder – rather wonderful: Lustfully drawn, powerful engine and wonderful sound – for an Italian, the Levante must first and foremost be a Maserati and only then an SUV. And one that is not above being used as a cargo tractor from time to time: The Levante is the first car with a trident on the radiator grille, which is also available with a trailer hitch as an option.

EDITOR’S PICK:

FINCA ES FANGAR – MALLORCA. The history of the finca goes back to the 14th century. The Romans already cultivated wine and olives in this region in the south-east of Mallorca, the Spaniards later brought horses to it. This tradition was revived at Es Fangar at the beginning of the millennium by the new owner family. With a lot of love and commitment, the Mallorcan finca has been restored and modernized without losing its original charm. The idea was and is to cultivate one of the most important and, with 1,000 hectares, largest pieces of land in Mallorca in an exclusively organic way. Under the strictest criteria, the highest quality wines and olive oils are produced on the organic finca, which is now considered a role model. In addition, one of the most modern Hanoverian breeds with selected bloodlines was established at Es Fangar Stud. Wine, oil and horses – a tradition with a vision! Because Finca Es Fangar is not only special, it also wants to create something special.
