In this country, the saying has long since ceased to be used only in the IT context. Rather, it is placed as well-intentioned advice for various life situations. And no matter from which perspective you look at the saying (from an IT point of view or rather from a general corporate point of view), you are treading on thin ice. Because when something is (supposedly) going well, it’s hard to change it. However, if you only start making changes (updates or structural changes) when it already hurts or at least gets really stuck, it is too late in case of doubt. From our point of view, this truism offers an excuse and metaphor to all those who are afraid of the unpredictable, mistakes and inconvenience. And trying out new things is usually uncomfortable at first. If you stick to the well-known, you are (again: supposedly!) playing it safe. But yes, this is perhaps the most insecure horse to bet on.
In the age of digitalization, we should and must not only critically question our existing business models and, if necessary, redesign them, but also put our working models to the test. Anyone who does not dare to question the status quo now will run after developments, miss out on innovations and developments, and will not be a designer, but at best a spectator. If you want to play along, you have to challenge the system.
