The first theme focuses on the art collection from the Alcantara archive. It presents a selection of works of art created by artists who have accompanied the Italian brand on its creative journey. For the first time in Korea, Alcantara presents the iconic “Extended Infinity” dress by Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen, known for her fantastic use of feminine lines and human anatomy.
In addition, the sensory chairs “Beyond the Nuclear Garden” by the contemporary art studio ZEITGUISED, created by the American sculptor and fashion designer Jamie Raap and the German architect Henrik Mauler, and the visual installation “The Future Landscape” by the Italian video artist and filmmaker Yuri Ancarani will be shown. This theme will be presented in the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor.
The second theme is the “Alcantara-Jaden Cho Collaboration”, which will be presented in the exhibition hall on the 3rd floor. It consists of four sculpture garments made of Alcantara, created by designer Cho Sung-min of the Jaden Cho brand, who has been active in Korea since his first collection, which was presented in the United Kingdom in 2020. The four artworks feature vibrantly colored Alcantara, hand-quilted with cotton, creating romantic silhouettes with different cutouts: from flowers to geometric figures. The special collaboration between Alcantara and Jaden Cho’s creative vision is also showcased through an appealing set-up that gives an insight into the fine process of designer Cho Sung-min’s work with the Italian-made material.

With this exhibition, we hope to get closer to the Korean audience and the art community. At the same time, we want to inspire with artworks from Alcantara’s art history and go ‘Beyond Boundaries’ by showing the endless possibilities of our material to adapt to the challenges of creativity with the talented Jaden Cho.”

Designer Jaden Cho expressed her delight at working with Alcantara, a world-leading material brand that embodies Italian craftsmanship and sustainability values. “The variety of beautiful colours to fine details allowed me to reflect the designer’s intentions in a way that I could not have imagined before my encounter with Alcantara. The resulting work is therefore perfectly suited for the upcoming spring season.”
The exhibition “Alcantara: Beyond Boundaries” is open to the public from February 22 to March 10 and is free of charge at the Platform-L Contemporary Art Center in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul/Korea.
