Over 25 years ago, Philip & Evelyn Greffenius (Edition Sportiva GmbH) had the visionary idea of enriching the start of the Oktoberfest with the “Almauftrieb ” in Käfers Wiesn Schänke. Since 2023, the summer edition “Almauftrieb Tegernsee” at Gut Kaltenbrunn has complemented this successful concept and attracts a unique mix of personalities from showbiz, society, business and the media year after year. Edition Sportiva has created a limited wine collection for the exclusive Almauftrieb events: the Almauftrieb Pinot Gris Cuvée and the Almauftrieb Organic Rosé Cuvée from the Côtes de Provence. A Pinot Gris & Riesling is already in production for 2024 in collaboration with winemaker Peter Michel from the Nahe. The organisers of the Almauftrieb, Evelyn and Philip Greffenius, have created the cuvée white wine together with winemaker Peter Michel.
Wine tradition meets inn tradition: the Almauftrieb wine from winemaker Peter Michl and Edition Sportiva is now on the menu at the historic Herzogliches Gasthaus Altes Bad in Wildbad Kreuth. The carefully restored inn from the 15th century, under the management of Korbinian Kohler and the ducal family, combines conscious care and preservation of regional culture. Here you can see how good tradition can taste: The Bavarian cuisine focuses on honest, powerful flavours inspired by Kreuth’s natural surroundings. The menu includes cheese from the Kreuth natural cheese dairy, game and mushrooms from the surrounding forests and fish from the Herzogliche Fischzucht fish farm, which have a unique flavour thanks to the pure mountain water. The range is complemented by partner products and the Tegernsee brewery. Korbinian Kohler explains: “The Almauftrieb Pinot Gris Cuvée is a very high quality wine that also has a really convincing flavour and is simply a pleasure to drink. For me, it symbolises the passion and commitment of Philip and Evelyn Greffenius. I am therefore particularly pleased that we can now also offer this wine at the Herzogliches Gasthaus Altes Bad in Wildbad Kreuth, the Bachmair Weissach Spa & Resort and other Bachmair Weissach Group establishments.”
The Almauftrieb wine is the ideal complement to the traditional Bavarian cuisine and perfectly rounds off the culinary experience in this extraordinary ambience. Philip Greffenius: “I am delighted that we have been able to gain another catering and hotel partner in Bavaria with our Almauftrieb wines. There is no better place for our wine than in the upmarket catering trade in the Bavarian Oberland and the Alpine region.”
