The appeal of the Modena Cento Ore is based on several factors. It is one of the few historic races in which the participants compete against each other both on the track and in special stages to determine the final ranking. The vehicles are assigned a coefficient depending on their year of construction, which equalises their performance. On the other hand, the event offers those who do not wish to take part in the Speed Trials the opportunity to compete as regularity drivers on the same challenging tracks.
Of the 100 starters – participation is by invitation only – two thirds will compete in the speed category and one third in the regularity category. Finally, and perhaps the most important factor in the success of the event, is Italy itself, with its carefully selected routes and breathtaking scenery, complemented by the first-class hotels and culinary experiences, all in keeping with the best traditions of Canossa Events.
The cars on the grid promise a truly spectacular show: 22 Ferraris alone, including iconic models such as the 250 SWB Competizione and the 308 GTB Michelotto. Well-known collectors such as Jaime Muldoon and his wife Cecilia Borrego de Muldoon from Mexico will be driving a 250 GT, while another well-known collector, Philip Kadoorie from Hong Kong, will be at the wheel of a Lancia Stratos Group 4. Also on display will be various Porsche models from different eras, AC Shelby Cobras, Jaguar E-Types, Lotus Elise and Cortinas as well as numerous Alfa Romeo GTA and GTAm and many other exceptional vehicles.
And for the public? On Sunday 6 October, the cars will be on display all day at the Parco Federico Fellini in Rimini. On Monday 7 October, the cars will stop for lunch in Arezzo, near Piazza Grande, and from 5.30pm the night races will take place on the Misano World Circuit, with free entry as for all events on the circuit. Tuesday starts at 9.00am with the second race, also in Misano, followed by a stop at Piazza Aurelio Saffi in Forlì from 11.30am.
After two special stages, the cars will be on display in Florence’s Piazzale Michelangelo from 4.30 pm. On Wednesday, 9 October, the cars will return to Florence via the Lungarno Abramo Lincoln in the afternoon after various special stages through the Tuscan hills. On Thursday, 10 October, the day begins at 9:00 a.m. with a race on the Mugello circuit before the cars continue to Modena. There, a parade of the cars will take place in Piazza Roma in front of the Palazzo Ducale from 16:00 before the award ceremony.
