The painter Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) is considered the creator of strict geometric compositions with black and white lines and color fields in red, blue or yellow.
Mondrian was one of the most important artists of the avant-garde movement, one of the most brilliant pioneers of abstract art. The exhibition in Düsseldorf focuses on Mondrian’s early work and artistic development up to Constructivism.
Mondrian. Evolution with Pictures from Five Decades is an exhibition by the Fondation Beyeler, Riehen/Basel, and the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf, in collaboration with the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, which houses the world’s largest Mondrian collection.
The exhibition can be seen at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen until 12.2.2023 .
