Our story here is about a special kind of declaration of love for Miami – the Maserati MC20 in the Fuoriserie Edition for David Beckham. There could be no more charismatic way to show his love for his homeland: David Beckham designed his very own Maserati MC20 Fuoriserie Edition together with the designers of the Maserati Centro Stile – with elements that are reminiscent of the pulsating metropolis of Miami. The Italian sports car manufacturer’s global brand ambassador transferred his passion for his second home to a custom-built Maserati MC20 for this project. He dedicated individual elements of the sports car to the magic of Miami and thus designed a tailor-made vehicle that stands for sportiness and maximum performance. The global brand ambassador became a designer with the help of the Maserati Centro Stile.
Not all Maserati is the same. The car manufacturer demonstrates this with its Fuoriserie individualization program. The project offers (well-heeled) customers the opportunity to cross boundaries and create their individual, tailor-made vehicle, which is then only available once. “Maserati Fuoriserie is like a blank canvas where customers can write their own stories and unleash their creativity to make their dreams come true,” explains Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design. The starting point of the inspiration is Miami, the hometown of Beckham’s football club. The creative result is the colourful division into black and pink as well as the interplay between glossy and matt surfaces. These accents can be found in the team colours of black and pink, as well as in the jerseys, which are characterised by contrasting glossy-matt elements. Accordingly, the body appears in a glossy black tone, which contrasts with the trident logos on the radiator grille and the C-pillar. These are also black, but with an opaque finish – just like the Maserati lettering on the rear. The MC20 logo on the door, on the other hand, is in pastel pink, as are the Brembo brake calipers. If you look into the interior, you will find leather and Alcantara in black with contrasting stitching in pink. His wife Victoria Beckham will probably like that too.
The topic of vehicle individualization has become massively more important in recent years. Who doesn’t feel the desire to explore the myriad combinations to find the Maserati that best represents its true spirit? There is the Corse Collection for lovers of timeless style, the gentleman racer era and Maserati history. Complemented by the Unica Collection – aimed at those dynamic people who speak the language of the “now”. The Unica Collection is a reinterpretation for our time, where trends in fashion, art and culture are changing rapidly. The outlook into the future is represented by the Futura Collection . Chosen for futurists, lovers of technology and new materials – for people who embrace change with enthusiasm and energy, and for people who know that the best is yet to come. Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design, explains: “Maserati Fuoriserie is like a blank canvas where customers can write their own stories and unleash their creativity to make their dreams come true.” He continues: “The development of this MC20 together with David, as with all our Fuoriserie projects, is also an ode to the brand’s past. It takes us back to a time when every vehicle was built by hand according to customer requirements and was unique.”
Back in Miami, the place of magical nights and delicate sunsets. The Maserati MC20 Fuoriserie Edition for David Beckham seems to cross this subtle boundary between history and future, between day and night. With pink, the shade of the sunset, and black, as a symbol of the realm of dreams. Feel it like Beckham.
