The VDP. The St. Antony winery has Blaufränkisch vines in the best locations of the Red Slope. The grape variety, originally from Austria, forms an important pillar in the winery’s assortment. On the one hand, it is developed by Dirk Würtz and his team as a premium rosé and on the other hand as a red wine.
Harvested by hand, destemmed and fermented on the skin, the wine is aged for a year in wooden barrels. There it can develop its full potential and gets a fine, but not too intense wood note. The Nierstein Blaufränkisch 2021 comes from the best Blaufränkisch plots in the Pettenthal and Ölberg. The nose is dominated by fresh cherry and blackberry notes, accompanied by a hint of tobacco. Thanks to the classic ageing, the Blaufränkisch is dense, with a lot of structure and an animating finish.
Editor’s Pick: The Blaufränkisch is now available in the online shop of the winery and vinotheque in Nierstein.
